The children begin to sit and play with small world toys such as the farm. This activity encourages the children’s imagination skills, interaction and communication with their peers. By encouraging the children to play, we are building firm friendships and allowing the children to recognise that they are similar but are developing awareness of being different. We offer activities to encourage the recognition such as puppet play and by sharing photos of each child’s family.
The children will also begin to look at and take part in ICT activities that are carried out through various media such as the computer, remote control toys and pop up toys. These activities promote and encourage asking questions and provide the children with opportunities to explore their wider environment. We have a range of dressing up clothes, including fantasy and multicultural. We also have people who help us, who support our activities such as help in the community and festivals. We encourage families who have English as an additional language to be involved in the children’s learning and to provide images to bring comfort to their child and those around them.
